Originally a dilapidated 1950s villa, this four-bedroom home on Jersey’s south coast was reimagined to enhance spatial flow, reduce carbon emissions, and frame views over St. Brelade’s Bay. The design prioritised open-plan living centered around a double-height kitchen and dining space, seamlessly connected to a re-landscaped garden.
A playful nod to island tradition appears in the public façade. Private windows arranged in Morse code spell out the house name, year, and client initials.
The result is a distinctive, context-responsive home. Quietly radical, deeply rooted.

Passive environmental strategies such as solar gain, stack ventilation, and a ground source heat pump combine with advanced technologies to create a low-impact, high-performance home. The project evolved from a modest extension to a substantial partial demolition and two-storey addition, shaped by extensive studies and a sensitive planning process.
Local contractors collaborated with specialist suppliers from South England, using well-tested building methods. The final design retains the east wing for bedrooms, each with bay views, while the master suite cantilevers above the lap pool with uninterrupted coastal outlooks.
